John Lucker is currently the Executive Vice President - Chief Strategy & Analytics Officer of a multiline commercial property & casualty insurance company. In this role, he is a member of the executive team leading the expansion of the privately owned US based insurer where he leads the execution of a unique strategy focused on commercial property, liability, and surety products.

He also advises startup technology and insurtech companies, company boards, and serves as an advisor to a boutique financial services strategy consulting firm.

Formerly, Mr. Lucker was a senior principal with Deloitte’s insurance and financial services consulting practice where he was Deloitte’s global advanced analytics market leader and a leader for Deloitte Analytics.

As an insurance industry veteran and management consultant, John advised insurance companies and their boards on end-to-end growth strategies as well as business, operational, and analytic business solutions.  The companies he has worked with span the industry - property-casualty insurance carriers (personal, commercial, standard, non-standard, specialty), life insurers, group insurers, reinsurers, TPAs, MGAs, as well as startup InsurTech companies. Throughout the global insurance industry, John has led the development of numerous proprietary strategies, methods, and technical solutions in the areas of commercial and group insurance underwriting, risk selection and pricing, claims management, regulatory and compliance monitoring, model risk management, risk sensing, distribution, customer and market management, telematics, IoT, soft/hard fraud detection and remediation, and predictive modeling and rules engine systems.

As an analytics strategist and business evangelist, John has advised dozens of insurers and companies in other industries on the discovery and implementation of solutions for their most complex business problems. His experience is broad and varied - advanced analytics; evolving technologies including cognitive computing, IoT, and telematics; cyber risk; risk sensing; pricing; customer insights; data monetization; behavioral economics and decision bias impacting management; and ethics and compliance issues surrounding big data.

John’s insights and strategies on the world of big data and analytics have been featured in the Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal, Wired, Baseline, Forbes, S&P Global, AM Best, Computerworld, Business Insurance and other leading publications, and he’s a sought-after speaker.

As a solutions innovator, John is a co-inventor of five analytics patents and two pending patents.

Beyond advising business leaders, boards of directors, and industry analysts, John is an active volunteer. He currently volunteers with Solid Rock International on medical missions to the Dominican Republic and is collaborating  to help local aspiring Dominican entrepreneurs start their own businesses. He was an appointed board member, as a non-actuary, of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and served on the CAS Innovation Council.  And for many years, he was on the board of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut, a state affiliate of the international organization promoting education and awareness of global issues and sponsor of the Model UN.  He was also a board member of the Connecticut Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

John holds both a bachelor’s degree in biology and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
